Laurie Atchue paints realistic flowers. The blossoms are magnified to let the viewer stop and explore the colors and shapes of the comosition. The most important component of her paintings is the capturing of light in the flower. The artist’s goal is for the viewer to see the familiar in a new way.The intention is for the eye to move around the composition and into the spaces, almost like a secret garden. Laurie Atchue lives on Cape Cod in the summer and gets much of her inspiration from the flowers growing along the shore.
